THE STORY

Visual narrative to the experiences of the children of Ghanaian expats

Client: the Design Museum London

As inter-Patria examined Ghanaian expats living in the UK and repats, it revealed the emergence of hybrid identities as the children of expats adapt between living within a Ghanaian household based within a European country.

The visuals narrate their encounters and experiences, between the native countries of their parents and their current dwelling place. They feature the Oware tile, that were developed based on the accounts of their first visits to Ghana. The merchant seller, the goat and the lizard become character tiles mixed with hybrid colours representing their hybrid identities.
